Rivia Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July7, 2025

At Rivia, your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy explains how Rivia Technologies Ltd, Rivia Clinic Ltd, our other clinics, and membership services (“we,” “us,” or “Rivia”) collect, use, and protect your information. It covers our technology, like RiviaOS, and healthcare services provided solely by Rivia Clinic Ltd and its clinical partners, such as University of Ghana Medical Centre and Synlab Ghana. Rivia Technologies Ltd and Rivia Technologies Inc are not licensed healthcare providers and do not deliver healthcare services. Any reference to “Rivia” as a healthcare provider means Rivia Clinic Ltd and its partners exclusively.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve healthcare services:

  • Personal Information: Name, contact details (e.g., email, phone), date of birth, and payment information when you join RiviaCare or visit our clinics.
  • Health Information: Medical history, diagnoses, treatments, lab results, and other protected health information (PHI) when you use services like consultations or memberships.
  • Employee Data: If you’re an employee enrolled through your employer’s RiviaCare plan, we keep your health and personal data separate to protect it from your employer.
  • Family Member Data: For dependents enrolled in RiviaCare (e.g., spouse, children), we collect their personal and health information but do not share it among family members without the specific member’s consent.
  • De-identified Data: We remove personal details from health data for research, analytics, and service improvement.
  • Usage Data: How you use our website, app, or RiviaOS (e.g., pages visited, appointment bookings).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver healthcare services through Rivia Clinic Ltd and its clinical partners, including consultations, lab tests, and medication delivery.
  • Coordinate care among our clinics and network partners.
  • Manage your RiviaCare membership, including billing and benefits.
  • Improve services through analytics and R&D, using de-identified data to study trends and enhance care.
  • Develop tools, like AI-powered triage systems, to make healthcare smarter.
  • Send marketing updates (e.g., membership promotions), with an opt-out option.
  • Comply with laws, such as Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and U.S. HIPAA regulations.

3. How We Protect Employee and Family Data

  • Employee Data: If your employer provides RiviaCare, your health information is strictly confidential. We don’t share your personal or health data with your employer, except in de-identified, aggregated form (e.g., usage reports) to manage the plan.
  • Family Member Data: If you’re enrolled with dependents (e.g., spouse, children), we don’t share one family member’s health information with others unless the specific member consents. For example, a parent’s medical records won’t be shared with their child without permission.

4. Sharing Your Information

We only share your personal or health information when:

  • You Consent: You agree to share with a specialist, lab, or family member (e.g., for care coordination or dependent care).
  • Care Coordination: We share with Rivia Clinic Ltd or clinical partners to provide your care.
  • Legal Requirements: We’re required by law (e.g., court orders, public health mandates).
  • Public Health: Sharing protects public safety (e.g., disease outbreak reporting).

We share de-identified data for research, analytics, or commercialization (e.g., building AI tools), ensuring it can’t be linked to you. We never sell your personal or health data.

5. Your Rights

You control your information:

  • Access: View your medical records or membership details.
  • Correct: Fix inaccurate data.
  • Restrict: Limit how we use or share your health information.

6. Rivia Clinics and Network Partners

  • Rivia-Owned Clinics: Rivia Clinic Ltd and other Rivia clinics comply with this policy, Ghana’s Data Protection Act, and healthcare regulations.
  • Franchised Clinics and Partners: These providers use RiviaOS, follow our privacy standards, and obtain your consent for data use. They act as data controllers, while Rivia Technologies Ltd processes data.

7. Data Security

We protect your data with:

  • Encryption for storage and transmission.
  • Secure servers and access controls.

If a data breach occurs, we’ll notify you and authorities within 72 hours, as required by law, and take steps to minimize harm.

8. Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as needed for healthcare, legal compliance, or R&D (using de-identified data). We follow Ghanaian and U.S. retention laws and securely delete data when no longer required.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their data. For dependents’ data (e.g., in RiviaCare), we require parental consent and limit use to healthcare. We don’t share a child’s data with family members without their guardian’s consent.

10. International Data Transfers

Rivia Technologies Ltd (Ghana) is owned by Rivia Technologies Inc (Delaware, US), which manages RiviaOS. Data may transfer to the U.S. or other countries, but we ensure compliance with Ghana’s Data Protection Act and HIPAA via strict agreements and encryption.

11. Commercial Use of Data
